Know Who You Are and Overcome Fear

how to over come fear How many times have you felt that you cannot do anything, that whatever you will do will fail and cause trouble to others? Where has your self-confidence gone? If you are not observant you will continually feel that way every now and then. And every time this feeling comes, you will surely lose the fight. What fight, the fight between failing and succeeding.

For you to be successful in whatever it is you are pursuing you must overcome the treacherous arms of FEAR. Recognizing its sources may help.

Below are some of the possible reasons you and I must have had why we sometimes feel the darkness of FEAR that hinders us from TRYING;

  • What others say – Among the many reasons we feel fear, this one (a lot of times) goes to the top. It’s a human nature to be happy hearing applauses and praises from others and be sad (sometimes extremely sad and worst, offended) when thrown with criticisms.
  • The state of life we are in – This is when the victim comes in. Feeding the mind the words “this is who I am and this will I be till I die, I was born poor and will be poor forever”
  • What we don’t have – Like a man who envies his neighbor who owns a big mango tree that he doesn’t want to do anything the whole day but look at those mangoes and forgetting that he has plenty of tomatoes in his own yard. We too tend to focus on things that we do not have rather than enjoy what we DO have.
  • Bad experiences  – We all have bad experiences but there are those of us who stopped trying because of them. Already fixed in mind that everything will be bad if not worst.
  • The lack of skills or incapability – We do not encounter this situation that often but when we do, we say these to ourselves “Oh I cannot do this and that or any of those. Therefore I will not try, I won’t even dare.”.  This also brings fear to those who are looking for a job or will go through job interviews.

How do we then overcome fear now that we know its sources?

Japan is one of the most POWERFUL, ADVANCED and DEVELOPED country in our time. Its contribution to the world is very evident. Just look around and you will see from transportation, entertainment, arts, cultures and many more. Behind the progress of the “Land of the Rising Sun” are its people and their beliefs.

Overcome Fear

For Japanese people POWER is symbolizes by three elements; SWORD, JEWEL and MIRROR. The sword represents weapons and armies which you and I will surely agree that this makes a person and a nation untouchable. Jewel represents money and treasures, with this you can (almost) buy anything in this world and will give a person power. But among these three, it is the mirror that the Japanese are considering the most important. Mirror represents one’s inner self, thoughts, habits and characters. No matter how sharp your sword may be or how much jewelry you may have, without knowing and mastering yourself, you will never have power.

how to overcome fear

Have you ever looked within you and asked who you are and what you can really do? Knowing the answers to these questions will bring lasting confidence and successes in one’s self.

-          You are a child of a perfect being, created after His own image. A Maker who does not commit mistakes and accidents. What you do and want to become depends on you but He is your guide, even your Father in Heaven.

-          You are a winner! The moment you were born you were already a winner. Amongst millions of sperm cells from your dads, it was you who made it, you are now here!

-          You may have physical incapability but there are things that ONLY YOU can do. Each of us is unique and we should celebrate our uniqueness, can you imagine looking around and everyone looks just like you, oh I don’t know about you but I think I will not enjoy it!

Now go in front of the mirror and tell yourself that you will do best today? That you will excel in whatever you will do? That you are a somebody and not a nobody. Starting now, get rid of fears and choose to be successful ’cause you are born to be one.
