When You Believe – Whitney Houston And Mariah Carey
I am not a Whitney Houston fan. Honestly, I only know her name from the hit song “I Will Always Love You”, the soundtrack of a movie The Bodyguard, where Whitney starred.
As I logged in to my Facebook today, my wall is flooding of news about Whitney Houston being dead. The singer pop star was found dead at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles where she was a guest. I searched the Internet to find out if this was true, and it was. Click HERE
For all her families, friends and supporters, I as an owner of this website, offer my condolences. Being a source of positivism, I feel that it is timely and appropriate to include here a song from Whitney Houston (together with Mariah Carey) that basically talks about positivism in life.
When You Believe
The lyrics of this song talks about what is possible when you believe in yourself. Too often, when failures and hardships in life strike, it is hard for us to truly grasp the idea that we can be the person we want to be, we can be where we want to be, do the things we want to do, and have the things you want to have in life.
While it is easy to lose confidence and faith in one’s self and start feeding the mind with negativity and fear, we must realize that we have more potential than we think. Achieving dreams are not reserved only for lucky people, the people who achieve their dreams are people who put every strength and effort to it. They are the ones who see failures and problems as opportunities. It’s this level of determination that got them to where they are today.

You must believe and continue to have faith in yourself. You are not a NOBODY, you are a SOMEBODY. Never let that belief in yourself die. For when you let it die, your dreams die as well, and when you let your dreams die, you can already consider yourself a walking dead.
Let me end this post with an excerpt from a speech given by an 87 year old woman to a graduation day that then became an icon in her school;
“There are only secrets in staying young, being happy and achieving success. You have to laugh and find humor everyday. You’ve got to have a dream. When you lose your dreams, you die.”
“We have so many people walking around dead and don’t even know it.”

Nice one Bo. It’s true, we should not let our dreams die within us, rather, let it be the guide in reaching our true potentials. We must always remember, we will be most effective when we are on higher ground. So, let us continue aspire for things and thoughts that are lofty.
Thanks brother Ed for dropping a line here. Yes I agree that standing on higher grounds is way important ’cause we cannot lift others if we too are hanging low. Have a nice day kapatid.
In reply to your article about Whitney, and like you, it’s quite a loss hearing a talented person died untimely because of substance abuse. She could have been a force for good, with her worldwide appeal, people will really look up to her. However, with the subtle way the adversary works, and with the seemingly harmless energy enhancing substance a person takes to keep up with the demand of success, works, deadlines, or temporal commitments, can be addicting thus craving for higher form of substance to keep up with temporary high would lead to eventual destruction. Once a person is into it, it would be very very hard to be freed from its bondage, like what had happened to Whitney, it will sapped the life out of you. Thus, may we always be careful of the things we wish for, and may we always be on guard of the materials or things we put into our bodies.
